Alliance Boots

Sedley Place The flagship store for Boots located on Oxford Street, London

Project Value £ 294,000.00

Project Duration Starting two weeks before Christmas 2007 and completing at the end of February 2008.

The Objectives
Design and build an office for the new CEO along with additional meeting rooms at the corporate headquarters of Alliance Boots in Oxford Street London.
The design involved protecting the new CEO office which looked over busy Oxford street from possible industrial espionage and terrorist attack and so anti surveillance treatment was carried out to the glazed Partitioning and also “Blast Mitigation” film was applied to the external glazing.
The meeting room suite on the third floor was constructed using silicone joint glass walls with glass doors and acoustic dividing walls, and a central hub with bespoke joinery and unitry provided a break out area and refreshment centre.

The Challenge
The site is on the third and fourth floor above the Alliance Boots flag ship store in Oxford street and on the fourth floor the client would be in occupation which would mean all works in this area would have to be carried out during night shift between 20.00 and 06.30 seven days a week. In addition the flag ship store below was in the middle of it’s busiest trading period just prior to Christmas followed by the January sales.
Access to and from the site for materials in and debris out was via a pedestrian door at the rear of the building which was accessed via an alley leading off (? Bob to check) street adjacent to Bonhams Motorcar Auction house. The area is regularly patrolled by traffic wardens and so vehicle deliveries and waste carriers had to be both “out of hours” and also timed so that men were waiting to immediately load and off load etc.

The Solution
With some very careful pre planning and the co-operation of a very dedicated installation team the project was executed to a strict schedule of work and with close supervision any unforeseen problems were quickly dealt with and “nipped in the bud” before they could get out of hand and cause any delays.
The client was kept fully informed of progress by regular touch down meetings with full transparency.
Works on the third floor had to be kept flexible to cope with alterations in the schedule of corporate meetings taking place on the floor above.
Client feedback has been extremely positive with total satisfaction on the very high quality of the finished installation and the fact that the works were completed on time with minimum disruption to the normal operations of both the corporate offices and the flag ship store below.
